Our Goal In Christ

Lately I've been thinking...

What is our main goal as Christians?

I've always been a person who likes to know what's wrong and what is right.
What's the right thing to do, and what's not.
And that, of course, is really important. Real values make a better living.
And our Christian values are the best there is. In fact, all of our western modern society; all modern humanity, is based on Christian values. To love thy neighbour as thyself.
And I thank God for growing up in a safe, Christian environment.

Let's move outside that Christian boundary. Into the "world", as Christians would see it.
For we are not of this world. We are a new creature in Christ, as Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians. Jesus told us to go out into the world and spread the Gospel. This gives us another question: How do we spread the Gospel? We can connect this with our main question: What is our main goal as Christians?

Too many Christians today focus on doing "religious" stuff.
We are all obsessed with praying, going to meetings, lifting our hands during worship and the like. All these things are good, and praying is essential! If you are a prayer-person, then pray! If you like going to meetings, then go! If you like to lift your hands during worship, then praise the Lord in your way! But that is not my point. My point is that we're trading relationship with religion. By focusing on our "daily Christian chores" we forget to live in Christ.

We must pray from our hearts, not from our minds. We must seek God's face and His will.
And lifting your hands does NOT make you a holier person. It can even make you "unholier".

Sit down. Relax. Talk to God as if He was standing next to you. Let your heart be filled with joy and peace overwhelming. And seek God's will in your life.
Seeking God's will in our lives is utterly important. God has a plan for you.
Relax. God will reveal it to you in time. But pray for Him to do so. For then He will.
He has promised us: "Pray, and it shall be done unto you." (Matthew 7:7)
God has put in us a fire... a yearning for something more. The Spirit creates in us a fire to go out and do something about the world's situation. We all have something inside us saying: "I gotta do something about that! I can't stand watching it!" Well, go for it. Maybe God wants you to do it. I might be talking about going out as a missionary. I might be talking about helping children in the "third world". I might be talking about knocking on your neighbour's door and ask "how are you?" But make things simple. Don't strive. It's one thing to have a calling, but another to do something just for the doing, and not for God. And above all: make them your way (in Christ). And don't say "I can't" or "I'm not good enough". God does not put you into things He knows you're not capable of.

Do you think God created you the way He did if you weren't good enough?
God has total confidence in you!

There are so many Christian churches fighting over so little things. When it all is so simple: Christ's salvation to all the world. Light the inner fire... let God be the Father (capital F) in your life. He loves you and wants you to love Him back. And spread joy. Happiness. Encouragement. Life. And salvation through the Blood of Christ.

We all have a purpose here on earth. Ask God to reveal His plan for you.

If we can get to that relationship with Christ and let the Spirit be our main banner, we will succeed! It is so simple... but yet, for many people, so difficult. I hope, at least, I have challenged your thoughts.

So, let me finish off with the question changed:

What is YOUR main goal as a Christian?
